Marius Rodrigues is a skilled and versatile drummer from Porto Alegre, Brazil, with over 30 years of experience in the music industry. A former student of Kiko Freitas, one of Brazil's most respected drummers, Marius has built a reputation for his solid technique, adaptability, and deep understanding of rhythm.
His journey began early, earning him the Best Technique Prize at Batuka, Brazil's national drumming contest, at just 17 years old. In Brazil, he performed at festivals and on television, laying the foundation for a career that would later take him to the international stage.
After moving to the UK in 2004, Marius became a go-to drummer for Brazilian jazz and beyond. For 20 years, he performed across London and Europe, comfortable in both live and studio settings, effortlessly blending traditional Brazilian rhythms with contemporary styles.
Now based in Tokyo, Marius continues his musical journey, sharing his extensive knowledge and passion for drumming through personalized lessons. He proudly uses Bonney Drums Japan, bringing his unique blend of Brazilian flair and technical skill to the Tokyo music scene.
