Marius Rodrigues is a professional drummer from Porto Alegre, Brazil — a city with one of the richest musical cultures in South America. His story is defined by relentless dedication to the art of rhythm across three continents over more than 30 years.

His journey began early. At just 17, he won the Best Technique Prize at Batuka — Brazil's national drumming competition — a recognition that marked the beginning of a career built on technical depth and musical intelligence.

He went on to study under Kiko Freitas — widely regarded as one of the greatest Brazilian drummers alive. Kiko is known for his extraordinary sensitivity, his deep pocket, and his ability to make rhythm breathe. Studying with him shaped Marius's fundamental understanding of what drumming is for: not to display technique, but to serve the music and elevate every musician in the room.

After performing at festivals and on television across Brazil, Marius moved to London in 2004. For 20 years he became a central figure in the city's jazz scene — performing at Ronnie Scott's, The Vortex, Pizza Express Jazz Club, and the 606 Club, and appearing at the London Jazz Festival, Berlin Jazz Festival, Kaunas Jazz Festival, and A to Jazz Festival across Europe.
